Motorcycle Security
So, you got a nice new shiny motorcycle, well maybe not brand new but at least it's new to you. Now it's time to make it yours. But first, and most importantly, you must make sure that it stays yours. There is a plethora of motorcycle security products out there. But there is no one product that guarantees that it will stop a thief from stealing your bike. There's an old adage in the motorcycle community that states βIf they really want it, they're going to get itβ. All you can really do is slow them down. The more layers of security that you Equipped your motorcycle with the better. After purchasing my 2022 Harley-Davidson Road Glide special, thieves attempted to steal it two times within the first year. Going as far as to cut the lock on the security gate at my place of employment. They removed the seat and the brain from the bike and attempted to reprogram it to a different key fob and just ride off. This is one of the most common methods of stealing Milwaukee 8 Harley Davidson Motorcycles. I left out a step or two, to avoid being accused of teaching anyone how to steal motorcycles. The first layer of security I would suggest that everyone employs is a good motorcycle cover. A good motorcycle cover can keep individuals from seeing exactly what you have. If you don't have the luxury of locking your motorcycle inside of a garage a motorcycle cover is a good 1st layer of security. The second layer of security is a good motorcycle alarm. If you're lucky enough to have a newer touring bike, Harley-Davidson makes a very good alarm system called the siren 2. There's already a slot for the device on your bike. I'm not sure why they don't include it when you purchase the vehicle, but it is the reason why the perpetrators of the second attempt to steal my motorcycle were unsuccessful. I would strongly suggest if you have the money to spend, purchase the pager that works with this system. It can alert you that your bike is being tampered with, up to half a mile away. And then of course there are also rotor locks and brake lever locks, all of which can be circumvented; however, they serve their purpose in slowing down thieves in their attempt to steal your motorcycle.
